Marissa Velez is an award-winning Director and Creative Producer known for her unique ability to fuse cinematic storytelling with the world of high fashion. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Marissa has carved out a distinguished career, starting as an in-house Creative Director for top fashion brands like Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, and rag & bone. During her tenure, she redefined how fashion and film intersect, pioneering visually arresting brand campaigns such as WHY CAN’T WE GET ALONG and A LAST SUPPER, which garnered prestigious awards including Webby’s, Clios, and One Show Awards.

Her work as a filmmaker extends well beyond fashion. Marissa has produced and directed films that have premiered at top festivals like Tribeca, Milan, and New York. She produced the Emmy-winning PSA INSIDE & OUTWARDS, a mental health awareness film, and the noir-inspired heist film NOBODY WANTS TO SHOOT A WOMAN, which premiered in 2024 to critical acclaim. In her narrative work, Marissa draws on her passion for European and American cinema from the 60s and 70s, often opting to shoot on 16mm and 35mm film to evoke a sense of nostalgia and authenticity.

Her storytelling is deeply personal, rooted in themes of identity, community, and cultural connection, often weaving in the texture of her Puerto Rican heritage and life experiences. Her recent short film PANTIES (2024) has been praised across the festival circuit and featured on platforms like Director’s Library and Nowness.
